Dorothea Puente preyed on society’s most vulnerable.  Those that few people would miss. Those that few people would look for. Her reign of terror was finally discovered when a social worker took extra care to watch over one of her charges. 

Albert Montoya was sent to live in the gingerbread-like Victorian boarding house managed by Dorothea Puente.  There, he was supposed to be cared for and protected.

What resulted was as gruesome as it was unbelievable. Montoya was one of 7 bodies, dug up from the backyard of 1426 F Street. 

This over a decade old murder mystery starts with the disappearance of Shannon Gilbert in May of 2010. The search for Shannon led to the discovery of four bodies along the shores of Gilgo Beach, but an arrest in the case wasn’t made until 2023.
